Got Questions About Your Data and Privacy?
We’ve Got Answers.
Thank you for sharing your acts of kindness with us.
Here is exactly what happens to your data and information when you make a submission.
-
When you text KIND and reply to our questions, we collect:
Your kindness story: the message you send us (what you did, the suburb you were in, and how it made you feel).
The time your message was received.
Your mobile number, so we can reply to you and honour opt-out requests.
-
We never store your mobile number in a readable form. As soon as it reaches us, it's converted into a secure, one-way code (a "hash") that can't be turned back into your number. We use it only to send you a reply and to make sure that if you opt out, you stay opted out. We never publish or share your phone number.
-
We collect these stories to celebrate everyday kindness and to understand its impact in the community. We may share your story publicly on our website and social media to inspire others. Stories are always shared anonymously: we don't collect your name, and your phone number is never attached, so nothing we publish can identify you.
-
You can stop at any time. Just reply STOP to our number, and you'll receive no further messages from us. Standard carrier message rates may apply to texts you send.
Changed your mind? You're always welcome back. Just text KIND to our number again any time to re-join and share another act of kindness.
-
We keep your submission for the life of the Kindness Out Loud project (through to 2032), as part of building a lasting record of everyday kindness across Australia.
-
This project is run by Kindness Out Loud, supported by the Ubuntu Foundation. If you have any questions about your information or want it removed, contact us at [CONFIRM: privacy contact email].
-
This service is intended for people aged [CONFIRM: 18+ / 16+]. [CONFIRM: if open to under-18s, add a line asking for parent/guardian permission.]
